The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dispatched over 200,000 Corps members as Adhoc personnel in advance of the general elections on Saturday.
It stated that more over 75% of the INEC’s (Independent National Electoral Commission) adhoc employees for the election are members of the Corps.
Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, the director general of the NYSC, revealed this information to media on Wednesday in Abuja as he briefed them on the Scheme’s preparations for the upcoming general elections.

He said that INEC staff had previously taught election participants both inside and outside of orientation camps. In a similar vein, the DG forbade Corps members from receiving any sort of reward from candidates during the election.

He continued by saying that during the election, Corps members can call the scheme’s distress call center, which has been set up at the headquarters.
The corps members wouldn’t be stationed in dangerous regions, according to the NYSC DG. He added that NYSC officers will also be stationed out in the field to keep an eye on corps members and provide assistance as needed.
Ahmed stated that the NYSC had set up a distress call center at the headquarters with the number 6972 for corps members to call for immediate assistance in the event of an emergency.
