Squid Game: The Challenge is almost here!
Inspired by the original Squid Game drama series, the new Netflix competition will see 456 real players compete through a series of games that are either replicas of those featured in the original series or inspired by it — only this time they will only ‘die’ when a Hollywood-style blood squib explodes underneath their green and white tracksuits.
456 real people.
4.56 million dollars.

In a new teaser for the show shared on the Netflix YouTube channel Friday, a voiceover from a man wearing one of the show’s iconic red tracksuits said: “Attention players. You will now compete for the biggest cash prize reality show in history.”
The countdown then showcased an incredible cash prize of $4,560,000.
Competitors dressed in the show’s famous green and white tracksuits looked stunned as they walked on set for the first time. “You have got to be kidding me,” one person gasped as piles of cash fell into a transparent globe.
“$4.56 million?” another said. “People do a whole lot worse for a whole lot less.”
Young-Hee — the creepy doll who detects if players are still moving during the “Red Light, Green Light” game — also appeared in the teaser, along with scenes of the gamers attempting to safely reach her without getting ‘shot’.

The new footage follows the June announcement that the original Squid Game will return for a season 2, having reached a record 111 million viewers in season 1 and becoming Netflix’s “biggest series launch ever.”
“Red light… GREENLIGHT!” Netflix tweeted on June. 12 alongside the news of the show’s renewal,
“It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever,” season 1, creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk said in a statement to Netflix.

“As the writer, director and producer of Squid Game, a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show,” he added.
In June 2023, Netflix confirmed that Lee Jung-jae will return for season 2, alongside Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo.
Although most of the characters were killed off in season 1, Hwang noted to Deadline that he would “try something to bring them back to season 2.”
Squid Game: The Challenge premieres globally on Netflix on November 22.
