Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye is now the Soun of Ogbomoso, a prestigious traditional role in Oyo state.

This marks a significant moment in the history, two years after the passing of the former Soun, King Jimoh Oladuni Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III, who reigned for 48 years.

Prince Olaoye ascended to the position on September 2, 2023, adding a new chapter to Ogbomoso’s history.

Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye was born on August 23, 1961.

He earned a BA Honors in English and Literary Studies from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria (formerly known as University of Ife) in 1982.

Additionally, he obtained a Masters degree in Industrial and Labor Relations with a focus on Human Resource Management from the University of Ibadan in 1987.

• Prince Ghandi, born on August 23, 1961, is a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). He’s married with two children.
• He comes from the Olaoye royal family, one of the five royal families in Ogbomoso, alongside the Oyewunmis and Ajagunlades.
• In 1940, Soun’s father attempted to become the king. However, his son, who is now the king, initially had no interest in the throne at first.
• Before moving to Germany, Prince Ghandi pastored three RCCG churches in Nigeria. In Germany, he oversaw another RCCG Parish in Bonn.

Reportedly, Pastor Ghandi received confirmation from God on January 2nd, 2022, after prayers for life’s direction, with God stating, “You were born for this; this is your purpose.”
