Jeon So-Min Bids Farewell To ‘Running Man’ After 6-Year Battle Against Malicious Comments
Her agency revealed that she would be leaving after completing the recording for the October 20th episode.
The reason for her departure, as explained by her agency, stemmed from a thoughtful and extended discussion with the ‘Running Man’ team.
Jeon So-min had decided to take a break and recharge herself, aiming to deliver even better performances, particularly in her acting career, in the future.
Jeon So-min’s journey on ‘Running Man’ was marked by a prolonged struggle with relentless malicious comments and personal attacks from certain viewers, which had plagued her since she joined the show in April 2017.
In response to this, the production team had to take the drastic step of closing the viewer’s bulletin board on its website in 2020 due to the rampant malicious comments that included indiscriminate swearing, excessive slander, and impersonation.
In an alarming twist, Jeon So-min’s younger brother, fitness model Jeon Wook-min, revealed some of the hateful messages he received from these online haters. These messages included threats and curses, indicating the intensity of the vitriol directed at Jeon So-min.
In an effort to combat these malicious comments, Jeon So-min posted a video in July of the previous year, showing herself during a ‘Running Man’ shoot while wearing a tube, with cast member Haha playfully throwing her into a pool.
Throughout her time on ‘Running Man,’ Jeon So-min managed to win over many viewers with her quick adaptation to the world of variety shows, infusing the program with her infectious cheerfulness.
