Usman Baba Alkali, the Uplifted Inspector General of Police, IGP has thrown his weight behind the recently appointed acting IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.
The former police chief expressed confidence in Egbetokun, that he will represent the police force well.
Alkali made this boast, while surrendering power to Egbetokun on Tuesday while noting that he took his removal from his position as the IGP by President Tinubu in good faith.
In his words ” Its a stage, you come, you work, and you go. I’m happy I am handing over to somebody I know will carry the mantle of leadership from where I have stopped”
He further stated that, The New appointed acting IGP can champion the course and represent the police force well in the discharge of his duties.
” We grew up in the job, we grew up together, I was his boss at a time not even when I was IG.
He worked under me twice , we’ve been working together and I know how he can go ahead to champion the course of the police from where I Stopped”
Reacting to the commendation by Alkali, The New Acting IGP Egbetokun said, ” Now I have just been decorated and I am looking forward to taking over tomorrow morning by 11am.
I really can’t explain the feeling I’m having presently, but if i have to tell you anything, I will tell you that right now I feel like a Tiger inside of me ready to chase away all the criminals in Nigeria.
And some other times, I feel like a lion in me ready to devour all the internal enemies of Nigeria. That’s my feeling right now.” He ended.
